It's been approximate 3 weeks since I had my HydraFacial procedure done at Adara Cosmedics and I love it. Lets start from the beginning. Before getting the Hydrafacial, I spent a couple of months researching researching different types of skin care techniques, products, home remedies and/or procedures that I could get done to give my skin a little bit more umph and life. While doing my research I read about a new skin care procedure by the name of Hydrafacial. Now, the Hydrafacial is a non-invasive, multistep treatment that combines the benefits of an advanced facial, a chemical peel, painless extractions (no pinching pimple popping) and a amazing delivery of Antioxidants, Hyaluronic Acid and Peptides (basically the yummy stuff your skin needs). After doing my research, I sat on it, thought about doing it and again did a bit more research. The more research I did the more I fell in love. But in all honestly I did have some hesitation. I, like most people, am a creature of habit. I hate trying new things. So I took the research I collected and threw it in file called, “Maybe Skin Care” and moved on. Acouple of days later, Adara Cosmedics, a brand new skin care clinic located in Nairobi ( Ngong Rd, Greenhouse Shopping Center, 2nd floor) called me and offered the treatment to me. And obviously, since it was written in the stars, I jumped at the opportunity. I visited their clinic spoke to GP and made sure to ask as many questions before agreeing to get the procedure done. The questions I asked: •How long does the procedure take? 45 minutes • Does the hydrafacial hurt? No • Can I immediately get back to my day? Yes • How experienced are the practioners? 10years of experience. (This was a big deal for me. Because, there was absolutely no way in heaven or hell I would let a 20 year old.. No wait, scratch that….even a 40year old recent beauty school graduate with maybe 2 month of interning experience work on my face with a large machine. Nope. No ma’am. I refuse to be anybody’s test dummy…. The fear was real. So when I heard 10years experience I was like…”YAAASSS GAAWWWWD”. ) Moving on……. • Am I a great candidate? Yes, most people with most skin types can benefit from a hydrafacial. But in some cases, if the patient suffers form severe acne, the hydrafacial might not be their best option. In such cases, the patient will be given a different form of treatment or referred to a dermatologist who can give them the next step to treat for their acne • What results should I expect? Softer clear skin that is hydrated and gives off an amazing healthy glow. ( Y’all I needed that glow. My skin was duller than a dry fruitcake at Christmas… Just saying) • When should I expect these results? Some immediately others in about 5-7 days. The feel of soft skin will be immediately. The clearer, healthy skin glow will be in about 5-7 days. • How often do you recommend the procedure? Every 4 -6 weeks? • But can I maintain the results longer than 4-6 weeks by myself? Yes, Adara Cosmedics has great home products that do just that. Awesome, sign me up. …. Now let me break down the procedure.
It’s been approximately 3 weeks since I had my HydraFacial procedure done at Adara Cosmedics and I love it. Plus I’ve added a vlog documenting my experience.
Lets start from the beginning.
Before getting the Hydrafacial, I spent a couple of months  researching different types of skin care techniques, products, home remedies and/or procedures that I could get done to give my skin a little bit more umph and life. While doing my research I read about a new skin care procedure by the name of Hydrafacial. I, like most people, am a creature of habit. I hate trying new things. So I took the research I collected and threw it in file called, “Maybe Skin Care” and moved on. A couple of days later, Adara Cosmedics, a brand new Laser and Skin Care Treatment Centre located in Nairobi ( Ngong Rd, Greenhouse Shopping Center, 2nd floor) called me and offered me the treatment . Obviously, since it was written in the stars, I jumped at the opportunity. I visited their clinic, spoke their skin specialist and made sure to ask as many questions before agreeing to get the procedure done.
The questions I asked included:
• How long does the procedure take? 45 minutes
• Does the hydrafacial hurt? No
• Can I immediately get back to my day? Yes
• How experienced are the practitioners? 10years of experience. (This was a big deal for me. Because there was absolutely no way in heaven or hell I would let a 20 year old.. No wait, scratch that….even a 40year old recent beauty school graduate with maybe 2 months of interning experience work on my face with an unknown machine. Nope. No ma’am. I’ve already watched that movie. It ends with me catching on fire…. I refuse to be anybody’s test dummy…. The fear was real. So when I heard 10years experience I was like…”YAAASSS GAAWWWWD”. )
Moving on…….
• Am I a great candidate? Yes, all skin types can benefit from a hydrafacial. But in some cases, if the patient suffers from cystic/active acne, the hydrafacial might not be their best option. In such cases, the patient will be given a different form of treatment recommended by the skin care specialist who can give them the next step to treat their acne

Now let me break down the process……..

My skin was cleansed before the procedure began.
My skin was gently scrubbed over and over again with a hydropeel tip while a serum was applied to soften my skin, making it easier to extract any impurities and dead skin
For this process, suction was used to clean out my pores with the help of Beta-HD™ serum. The Beta-HD serum contains a honey extract, which provides an added boost of hydration and anti-bacterial benefits as well as salicylic acid, which gently exfoliates and aids in extraction
For the Vortex Peel (aka Chemical peel) a mixture of Glycolic and Salicylic Acids was delivered onto my skin to give me the same benefits as a chemical peel but without gross “I can’t leave the house cause I’m peeling like a snake” post peel scaling.
There are three Glysal™ peel strengths available. Mine was the Mild Glysal™ Prep Peel (7.5% glycolic acid and 2.5% salicylic acid), which is suitable for normal skin types. The Moderate Glysal™ Peel (15% glycolic acid and 1.5% salicylic acid) is used only for oily, acne prone skin and hyper pigmentation. The stronger Aggressive Glysal™ Peel (combination of 30% glycolic and salicylic acid) is used for acne prone skin only.
Next step was the VORTEX FUSION aka the life giver
An Antiox+™ serum was delivered to nourish and protect my skin with Antioxidants, Peptides and Hyaluronic Acid designed to combat the damage created by the environment, and deeply moisturize the skin.
This was done to improve circulation, as well as detoxify, tone, and firm the skin. Simply put, when you eliminate toxins you promote healthier skin.
Finally the LED light Therapy.
This form of therapy was used to stimulate the cells by increasing your skin’s production of collagen and elastin. Basically it makes your skin look snatched by reducing the appearance of fine lines:
We then finished the whole procedure with some moisturizer and sunscreen.
Here are my 3 and a half week results.
My skin is significantly softer, vibrant, brighter, healthier and has the umph I was looking for. And the best part… my foundation applies like a dream.
Will I do it again? Hell yes……
