If you follow me on social media, you probably know that I was out of the country for about 2 weeks. And when that happened, guess what else happened… I stopping going to the gym… I mean yes I would try and work out in my hotel rooms but y’all know that if someone’s not there to kick your butt and make you do it, you will slack off and at best maybe you’ll do the work outs, but in a half ass manner.. And yes, that was me. When I would do my “workout homework” given to me by my trainer from Revitalize, I would do the first 2 reps kinda properly but by the 3rd of 4th one….. I would do the least painful and least exhausting part of the workout. And I already know what you are thinking. “If you are given a workout plan by your trainer, why would you not do it right?” And my answer is crazy simple… Because I am human..and humans can be lazy…plus I like pie and vacations. Not a proper excuse, but you know..HUMAN… anyway, So when I got back home, on a Sunday, I told myself I would get back to my workout routine on Monday…….. 7 days later, nothing happened. So, this past Monday I told myself “Today is the offing Day” And guess what I did. I went to the gym. With that said, here are my 8 tips on how to get yourself back to the gym.

anyway, So when I got back home, on a Sunday, I told myself I would get back to my workout routine on Monday…….. 7 days later, nothing happened. So, this past Monday I told myself “Today is the offing Day” And guess what I did. I went to the gym.
With that said, here are my 8 tips on how to get yourself back to the gym.

1) LAY OUT YOUR WORKOUT CLOTHES THE NIGHT BEFORE:

I know it may sound silly but the mental guilt you will have the next day staring at your gym clothes knowing you never went to the gym is real. Don’t get me wrong, you will not toss and turn over the decision , but you will feel a little bit sad and disappointed in yourself

2) IF YOU ARE A MORNING GYM PERSON, WAKE UP 2 HOURS BEFORE YOUR WORKOUT TIME

This is something that works for me. I am not a morning person. And most importantly I hate…hate..hate eating first thing in the morning. I just never have the appetite. And if you want to not pass out at the gym, you need to have breakfast. So for me I will need at least 1 hour of just being awake and moving around the house then an extra 1 hour for breakfast before heading to the gym.

3) ASK SOMEONE TO CALL YOU EVERYDAY AN HOUR BEFORE YOUR WORKOUT TIME FOR ABOUT A WEEK.

For me, this person is my trainer. Nelson knows how difficult I can be, especially on my first couple of days back at the gym. So, for the first week he will blow up my phone as a reminder that he is waiting  and that I need to get my butt in formation.

4) GIVE YOURSELF 72-96 HOURS BEFORE GETTING FRUSTRATED AND GIVING UP

The first 3 days of any workout plan is the hardest. Trying to psych yourself up on these 3 days is almost impossible. You are exhausted, your body is sore, you wake up ever morning reminiscing on the other things you used to do instead of going to the gym and more…  So before saying “F&*K this, I’m over it” give your self 3 to 4 days of constant and consistent workout days. Before you know it the 5th day will be easy breezy.

5) SHOP FOR THE WEEK

Pretty obvious and self explanatory right? If you have good food in the house, you will not eat the bad outside.

6) FIND A WORKOUT BUDDY….ONLY IF IT WORKS FOR YOU

I’ve been told this anytime. But, personally this has never worked for me. I am what you call a professional derailer and my friends are always ready to be derailed. So this would never work for me. But if you have friends who can put their foot down and gets you out of the bed on time and in the gym..have them be your workout buddy…. p.s let me know if that works for you… cause yeah.

7) TREAT YOURSELF TO SOME CUTE WORKOUT GEAR

I know how this sounds, but ya’ll it’s so true. If you have a cute pair of  leggings, sports bras and sneakers you will feel the need to show the off somewhere. And what better place than the gym.

8) FIND PHOTOS OF YOURSELF WHEN YOU USED TO HIT THE GYM RELIGIOUSLY

Seriously, I dare you. Find a photo yourself mid into a good workout routine. When you find it, try to remember how good you felt about your self at that time, and not only how good you felt but also how good you looked… In fact find a photo when you were wearing almost nothing or something super tight…. now look at how amazing your booty looked at that time. If that does not get you back at the gym, child I don’t know what will.

9) AND LASTLY DO IT FOR YOURSELF

I had to finish this off with something cheesy but true.
